Care For Sick Children

We are available seven days a week. We take pride in offering extended hours weekday evenings and weekend mornings for sick or injured children who need same-day care. Whenever possible, we try to schedule your child with his or her primary pediatrician. In addition, we offer 24-hours a day access to phone advice. Our phone nurses are available to offer home care advice and to help you determine if and when your child needs to be seen by a physician.  Outside of clinic hours our on-call pediatrician or advice-line registered nurses assist you with the same.

In some instances, an on-call physician or advice nurse may recommend your child be evaluated and treated at an emergency room or hospital. Both of our local hospitals, Legacy Salmon Creek and Southwest Washington Medical Center, have dedicated pediatric Emergency Room space and staff.

Should your child need the specialty care of a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), or children’s hospital, we are fortunate to have two nearby children’s hospitals in Portland, Oregon,  Doernbecher Hospital at OHSU and Legacy Emanuel.

Children with complex medical needs may be cared for by one or more pediatric specialists at one of the Portland children’s hospitals or at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Our pediatricians communicate frequently with pediatric specialists from each of these institutions to coordinate care for our patients.

Consultation appointments are available for less urgent, longstanding (over two weeks) behavioral, developmental and health concerns.

Our website also delivers reliable updates, resources, and links for important health issues affecting children and the community.
